Parents

A ministry for adults, typically parents of teens in the youth ministry program. The ministry, however, is not restricted to youth ministry parents. All adults are welcomed. The mission of the Parent Ministry is to lead adults closer to Christ. Just as the Youth Ministry program’s intent is to lead teens closer to Christ, the Parents Ministry strives to present to parents of teens opportunities to not only draw closer to Christ but also to solidify the family structure. There are 3 main entities that make up the Parents Ministry: Parent Gatherings, Food Ministry, and Parents Retreats.

Food Ministry - Established out of a need to provide a "practical" hospitality of food to the LIFE TEEN Community. It includes, as its members, many of the same people who attend the weekly parent gatherings. Food For Life provides food and hospitality for numerous parish and LIFE TEEN events. Food For Life is both challenging and rewarding. We accept Christ's challenge in the gospel to "feed His lambs". The rewards of accepting that challenge can only be appreciated by experiencing it.

Parent Gatherings - These meetings will begin soon, with the purpose of offering parents of teens and other adults who support the LIFE TEEN program an opportunity to grow closer to Christ. This is accomplished in a similar format to the teen's "LIFE NIGHT". We will meet at the same time as the teens are meeting, after the Saturday 5:30pm Mass, from approximately 6:45pm until 8:00pm. We understand people are busy and have conflicting schedules. Weekly attendance is encouraged but not demanded. After a few minutes of greeting and refreshments, we break open the topic of the night, which is planned and facilitated in detail by a team of parents who have dedicated themselves to this portion of the Parents Ministry. Once a month, we will break from the usual format and have a "pot luck" dinner with our families. This gives us the opportunity to meet each other on a more informal basis. Topics are planned quarterly, with different teams facilitating the planned topic. The depth, feeling, skits, music, and general flavor vary each week. The purpose and goal of the night remains the same, and is centered on the Eucharist. Parents will hopefully come from the meetings feeling a part of this growing community, refreshed, and loved.

Parent Retreat - The foundation of our Parents Ministry. It is an individual experience and covers the many obstacles that get in the way of a closer relationship with God. It is a weekend to relax, meet new people, and bathe in the presence of Christ.
