Accreditation
It is with great pride that we announce that our preschool has been awarded national accreditation through The National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC is a leader in early childhood education; does much research in the field and have published many books on the topic of early childhood education. Developmentally Appropriate Practice guidelines used in early childhood programs were developed by NAEYC. The accreditation process is an in-depth study where parents and teachers evaluate the program to ensure the school meets the necessary standards. At the end of the self study NAEYC validators come to the school where teachers and administrators go through a lengthy observation process and are also interviewed to ensure they understand and implement appropriate practices in the classroom. The accreditation has to be renewed every five years and the schools are monitored annually by NAEYC. I am very proud of our staff who worked so hard to achieve this prestigious stamp of approval. They are a professional group of teachers who deserve the recognition! www.NAEYC.org
Registration
We have begun registration for fall. The waiting lists have been growing and the spaces are filling up quickly. To place your child on our waiting lists or to check on the status of a child currently on our waiting lists please call the preschool office at 954 323-8007
Summer Camp
The preschool hosts a summer camp each year. Camp runs this year from June 12 to July 12. It is held on T-W-TH from 9-1 pm. We offer safe water play (sprinklers and kiddie pools). Camp is laid back and fun without the busy schedules of the school year. Visits from a wildlife preserve and a Kindermusik teacher are very popular! Music and movement classes are offered during camp. The cost of the five weeks of camp is $450.00. To place your child on the waiting list for camp or for further information please call the preschool office at 954 323-8007.
Book Fair
We all know how important it is to read to young children. We do what we can to encourage this. We host two Scholastic book fairs a year. Our first of this year will be in October and the second in the spring. The books are inexpensive. They make great Christmas or birthday gifts. So plan on shopping! Parent volunteers are also needed to help with the sale of books. We appreciate our parent volunteers J
Halloween
Halloween is anticipated with great excitement at the preschool. This is a great time to try out new rolls in life. Our school has a Halloween parade every year. The children create beautiful T-shirts for the parade and the parents turn out to appreciate their hard work and creativity.
DramAntics
Miss Rita our visiting dramatic storyteller comes 6 times a year. The children just love Miss Rita and her stories. Her stories make for great conversation on the way home from school.
Seminole Visit
We will be visited
by our local Seminoles before Thanksgiving. This day opens up doors for the
children to see people who dress differently and who share stories and songs of
Native Americans. The atmosphere is set with a make-believe campfire and sounds
of the
Fire Truck Visit
Early November we have the local fire department bring a fire truck to school each year. The visit from the fire truck is one of most popular events for the children. Through this program the children will learn about fire safety in an age appropriate non-threatening way. The best moment is when the children get to climb inside the truck! They feel like real firefighters. We also hear how loud the siren is up close.
Enrichment Classes
This is the sixth year we are offering after school enrichment classes. We offer Spanish, Music and Math, Science and Cooking. The children can do as many of these classes as you choose, though we limit the Math/Science and Literacy classes to the children enrolled in the four-year-old program. We started out with one afternoon of each program and they have been such a huge success that we now offer these classes three days a week from noon to 2:15. Children can stay on after their morning class or come in for enrichment on days they are not scheduled to attend school. After the enrichment classes end at 2:15 you may opt to avail of our new extended aftercare until 3 PM! There is an additional charge for this popular service.
Before School and After Care
Many of our preschool children have siblings in our grade school. To help make
life a little easier we now offer early morning drop-off any time after 8. If
you wish to avail of this program just stop by the office and let us know. We
also offer Stay and Play from noon to 3:00 PM. While enrichment classes focus
on one area of development and tend to be structured, Stay and Play is a relaxed
play time highly popular with the children after a busy morning of work. If
your child would like to stay on after school and have a play date with a
friend we can make that happen. Just sign up in the office and send a healthy
lunch.
Kindergarten Registration
We have a superb grade school. The children in the preschool have priority for entrance into our Kindergarten. This current year 33 of our children moved up into our grade school. We anticipate the number of children entering kindergarten form the preschool to increase as the grade school continues to develop the excellent reputation it has been earning. If you wish to enroll in our grade school the easiest way is to be a student in the preschool.
