Discipline

Our policy is one of preventive discipline. Children who are involved with their environment are less apt to experience behavioral difficulties. For children who do experience behavior problems our policy is to first redirect them to other activities. Logical consequences of their behavior will be discussed. If further intervention is necessary parents shall be notified. Our policy is one of loving discipline where clear, safe limits shall be set. Humiliation of a child will never be tolerated.

Weather
The Archdiocese of Miami follows the policies of the Broward County Schools. In the event the Broward County School District is closed due a hurricane warning or other emergency conditions,; so are we. Keep in mind that offices will also be closed so we will not ibe available to answer your questions on school closings. You will need to watch the news and know when schools have been ordered closed.

It may seem at times that the School Board is overreacting prior to a storm but they have to err on the side of caution. School buses cannot run when the winds are above a certain speed and schools are used as shelters. Therefore, decisions have to be made in advance. The County authorities try to keep traffic off the roads as much as possible. All these decisions are made with our safety in mind. So we ask you to please be understanding. Nobody closes schools on a whim.

Make sure your supplies are up to date and your bag of tricks to keep the kids occupied is full!

Dress

Since play is the work of children, children need to come to school dressed for work. The wearing of comfortable older play-clothes is strongly recommended. Painting and mud-pies can be messy business! For the safety of your child on the playground, rubber-soled shoes or sneakers are the best. No sandals or cowboy boots please.
