In 1998 Mary
Help of Christian received the active support and over $2,000 financial
assistance from the Florida State Department of Transportation to landscape the
south border of the church adjacent to the off-ramp of the Sawgrass Expressway.
The creative use of matching funds and the active involvement of parishioners
and the City of Parkland were instrumental in obtaining this award. > In January
1999, Mary Help of Christians was awarded third place award in the Broward
County competition for Broward
Beautification. The parish was only one of three churches in the countywide
competition and the only Catholic one. >
